For

Healthcare

Developed from more than 25 years of research and based on the scientific framework of brain vital signs, the NeuroCatch® Platform is a Health Canada approved Class II medical device that offers a simple and objective way to measure cognitive brain function.

Why use

the NeuroCatch® Platform?

Benefits

NeuroCatch® allows healthcare practitioners to quickly and easily perform an objective cognitive assessment on their clients in 10 to 30 minutes, with the test taking only 6 minutes. In this time, results from the NeuroCatch® report can help guide clinical decision-making throughout the care continuum.

NeuroCatch® uses an EEG headset to capture quantitative physiological responses for Auditory sensation, Basic attention, and Cognitive processing, overcoming challenges with traditional subjective error-prone tests. NeuroCatch® is standardized with established normative data and test-retest reliability, providing a much-needed solution to objective cognitive evaluation.

The results gained from the NeuroCatch® report are immediate and easy to use. Within the NeuroCatch® report, the value of each ERP is displayed and can be compared to prior scan history to distinguish any variability. Detailed results on the speed and size of the three different ERPs make up the ABCs of NeuroCatch®.

How it works

NeuroCatch® conducts a rapid 6-minute scan to measure and report on cognitive brain function. It produces a NeuroCatch® report immediately after the scan to display information on three different ERP brain responses. These responses form the ABCs of NeuroCatch®:
  • Auditory Sensation [N100]
  • Basic Attention [P300]
  • Cognitive Processing [N400]

The NeuroCatch® report provides both the healthcare practitioner and the client with a user-friendly summary of the quantified results and scores.

How do I use it?

Intended
Use

The NeuroCatch® Platform is intended for the elicitation, acquisition, analysis, storage, reporting and management of event-related potential (ERP) information.

What type of client is appropriate for a NeuroCatch® scan?

NeuroCatch® is designed for healthcare practitioners to measure cognitive brain function of their clients. It can be used to monitor healthy brain function, and to aid practitioners in individual evaluation of brain injury (e.g., concussion), neurological disease (e.g., dementia), and mental health (e.g., post-traumatic stress disorder) whenever there are concerns involving the sensitive detection of changes in cognitive function.

When is it appropriate to scan a client?

For practitioners providing active treatment programs, NeuroCatch® scans can be completed at the beginning and end of treatment, with periodic scans in between to track client progress. NeuroCatch® scans can also be utilized to analyze current cognitive brain function.

Can the NeuroCatch® report help guide treatment?

NeuroCatch® provides objective information about cognitive brain function. It can therefore be used as a tool to guide clinical decision-making. Treatment decisions must be based on clinical/medical judgment.

Does NeuroCatch® replace
medical imaging or neuro-psychological testing?

NeuroCatch® provides an objective and rapid assessment of cognitive brain function and is recommended to be used in conjunction with other medical imaging or neuro-psychological testing. It does not replace other testing, but rather improves clinical efficiencies utilizing these important resources. The results of the NeuroCatch® scan are summarized in the NeuroCatch® report that is intended to be an objective part of an overall clinical evaluation.

What type of client is appropriate for a NeuroCatch® scan?

The NeuroCatch® Platform is designed for healthcare practitioners to measure cognitive brain function of their clients through specific brain responses known as event-related potentials (ERP).

These ERP measurements can be used for a range of individuals who are interested in monitoring healthy brain function, those who sustained a concussion or brain injury, any client who may be experiencing, or are concerned about, changes in their cognitive functioning.

Can the NeuroCatch® report help guide treatment?

The NeuroCatch® Platform provides information on ERPs. Treatment decisions must be based on clinical/medical judgement. The NeuroCatch® Platform may be used as a tool to assist in guiding clinical decision making.

Does the NeuroCatch® Platform

Stimulating
Cognitive Responses

Unique to the NeuroCatch® Platform is the evidence-based method to stimulate specific brain responses involved in cognition. Using a rapid 6-minute simple auditory sequence of basic tones and word pairs it is possible to reliably evaluate the speed and size of these standard brain responses within an individual.

The results from the NeuroCatch® Platform are easy-to-use and immediate. They take complex neuroscience and translate it into simple brain health results. The clinical report is anchored by an intuitive graphic of cognitive brain health. Detailed results on the speed and size of the three different brain responses make up the ABCs of NeuroCatch® Platform (below). The ABCs incorporate a standardized normative framework in which to evaluate individual results.

The NeuroCatch®
Difference

NeuroCatch® differs from traditional cognitive assessments by providing a rapid (6-minute), objective, quantifiable measure of direct neurophysiological responses. Results of the scan are immediately provided in an easy-to-understand NeuroCatch® report.

As cognitive assessments of this quality and objectivity have rarely existed outside of a laboratory setting, NeuroCatch® provides practitioners a way to address the adage of “you can’t treat what you can’t measure” at the point of care.

NeuroCatch® is currently used as an assessment tool and/or a part of treatment programs for concussion and brain injury, dementia and neurological diseases, aging, PTSD and mental health, as well as athletic/executive brain performance and human optimization.
